Now, onto a little about me…

For those of you who know me (and those of you who will get to know me either as a client or through this site!), if we could agree on one thing, and one thing only, it would be this: I am a girly-girl. Always have been…always will be. And because I was born as such (No silver spoon for me. Just a tube of fabulous lipstick, thank you very much), my poor mother was given the task of raising a little girl who would refuse to get her hands too dirty, or wear anything but a dress unless absolutely necessary.

My love of make-up started very early on. Our local drug store used to carry little kits for girls filled with scented tissues, powder, lip gloss, and other random hoo-ha’s for prissy little misses such as myself. I would beg and plead for a new kit every time my mother let me tag along to the store with her. Every. Single. Time. At four-years-old, I entered into Kindergarten and couldn’t wait to ride the bus and start going to school like all of the big kids in my neighborhood. Every morning, right before I had to meet my friends on the corner for our ride on the bright yellow bus, I would run into my mother’s room and throw one of her lipsticks from her second floor window onto the grassy front lawn below. On my way to the corner, I would swoop that shiny little tube up and be on my way. In my class, we kept our backpacks on a table in the back of the room. Every ten minutes or so, I would head over to my Barbie backpack and reapply. And I was GOOD. Seriously – I practiced regularly and could stay in the lines and everything! My four-year-old lips were the perfect shade of pink each and every school day. That is, until I forgot my lunch box and my mother caught me mid-application at the bus stop.

We can all see where this is going, right?

Fast forward fourteen years, and I’m fresh out of high school, choosing make-up and the bright lights of Los Angeles over a college degree. While in LA, I attended the Make-up Designory and studied the techniques of make-up for film and photography, including character make-up (bald caps, bullet wounds, etc.). After a year in La-La Land, I came to the realization that although make-up was my first love, continuing my education was also important to me. Shortly thereafter, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in Communications.

Since college, I have been lucky enough to live in FL and DC, and have had an exciting  and rewarding career in event planning (while still doing make-up on the side, of course!). Now I am back home in sunny San Diego, and my first love is once again knocking at my door. I hope that my passion and enthusiasm for make-up artistry and all things beauty-related not only comes across on these pages, but that some of it rubs off on you, too!

Enjoy looking around, and again – THANK YOU!

Jessica
